Warranty Policy – TAV Electric (India)

This warranty policy applies to products sold in India under the TAV Electric brand by TAV Systems India Pvt. Ltd.

1. Warranty coverage

TAV Electric warrants that its products are free from manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and proper installation.

The following warranty periods apply from the date of delivery:

  • Mid-drive motor, controller and supplied electrical accessories – 12 months
  • 36V battery pack – 12 months

2. Who can claim

This warranty is valid only for the original purchaser and is not transferable.

Proof of purchase is required for all warranty claims.

3. What is covered

This warranty covers:

  • manufacturing defects in components
  • electrical or mechanical failures under normal operating conditions
  • faults not caused by misuse, modification or incorrect installation

If a defect is confirmed, TAV Electric may, at its discretion:

  • repair the defective product, or
  • replace the defective product or part with an equivalent item.

4. What is NOT covered – motor, controller and accessories

This warranty does not cover damage or failure caused by:

  • misuse or abuse of the product
  • overloading the bicycle beyond recommended limits (recommended total load: approx. 100–120 kg)
  • riding in extreme or unintended conditions (including aggressive off-road riding where the product is not designed for such use)
  • accidents, crashes or impact damage
  • unauthorised modification of the motor, controller or wiring
  • use of non-approved or aftermarket electrical components
  • attempted self-repair or third-party repair
  • competitive use, stunt riding or similar activities
  • improper installation or incorrect operation
  • failure to follow the installation guide or operating instructions
  • incorrect battery or controller cable connection
  • water ingress caused by improper sealing, pressure washing or submersion

5. What is NOT covered – battery

This warranty does not cover:

  • normal reduction in battery capacity over time
  • damage caused by misuse, physical damage or accidents
  • damage caused by improper charging practices
  • use of an incorrect or incompatible charger
  • damage caused by unauthorised repairs or modifications
  • batteries exposed to extreme temperatures or environmental conditions
  • batteries used outside the specified operating parameters
  • damage caused by water penetration
  • batteries where the casing has been opened or tampered with

6. Installation responsibility

Our products are designed to support both professional and self-installation.

However, this warranty does not cover:

  • incorrect mechanical installation
  • wiring errors
  • compatibility issues caused by non-standard bicycle frames or components

Customers are responsible for ensuring correct installation using the official TAV Electric installation guides.

7. Battery usage and charging guidelines

To ensure safe operation and long service life, customers must follow these guidelines:

  • Use only the charger supplied or specified for the battery
  • Do not charge the battery near flammable materials
  • Do not charge the battery in extremely hot or cold environments
  • Do not leave the battery connected to the charger after it is fully charged
  • Avoid charging the battery unattended for long periods
  • Avoid deep discharge where possible and recharge before the battery level becomes critically low

Typical charging durations may vary by battery capacity and charging conditions.

8. Storage and basic care

Recommended practices:

  • Store products in a dry and well-ventilated area
  • Store batteries at approximately 50–60% charge if not used for long periods
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or high temperatures
  • Do not store batteries in enclosed hot environments such as parked vehicles
  • If exposed to rain, dry the battery and connectors promptly using a soft, dry cloth

9. How to make a warranty claim

To request a warranty claim, please contact TAV Electric support and provide:

  • customer name
  • order number or proof of purchase
  • product name
  • motor serial or part number (if applicable)
  • purchase date
  • description of the issue
  • clear photos and/or video showing the fault

10. Inspection and approval

All warranty claims are subject to inspection.

TAV Electric reserves the right to determine whether a fault is covered under warranty after evaluation of the returned product or diagnostic evidence.

11. Shipping for warranty service

If a product is required to be returned for inspection or repair:

  • the customer must package the product safely
  • return shipping to the service centre may be required

If the fault is confirmed as a manufacturing defect, TAV Electric will arrange repair or replacement and return shipment.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

Except as expressly stated in this policy, TAV Electric makes no other warranties, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

13. Limitation of liability

TAV Electric shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including but not limited to loss of use, loss of income or personal inconvenience arising from the use or inability to use the product.

The maximum liability under this warranty is limited to repair or replacement of the product only.
